Karyn Baker

Karyn Baker has worked with persons with Memory Loss for since 1990 starting as a CNA. Karyn worked many different roles including caregiver, resident home manager, human resources, and family services coordinator. Karyn says "Once I began working with dementia, I knew that I found what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I knew that this was the population that brings me joy and that I have a knack for bringing joy to their lives as well." In 2005 Karyn and Lisa toured a facility that they thought had great potential to become a memory care community. They purchased it in 2005 and in 2007 were endorsed by the state as a Memory Care Community. In 2006 Karyn's mother (who has multiple sclerosis and is blind) moved into the community. Karyn currently lives in North Eugene with her husband Buddy and her dogs Oliver and Arlo.

Lisa relocated from Colorado to Oregon in 1994 and she has been working with Persons with Memory loss since 1999. Her roles included the Administrative Assistant, Human Resources Coordinator, and Administrator for a long term memory care facility. During that time Lisa procured several grants for career ladders for caregivers and worked with other programs to enhance the lives of persons with memory loss and those who take care of them. In 2005 Karyn and Lisa toured a facility that they thought had great potential to become a memory care community. They purchased it in 2005 and in 2007 were endorsed by the state as a Memory Care Community. Lisa currently lives in Eugene with her daughter Nora and her dog Maisie Bell.
